Professor Toon Showcases
Rap Skills For Glass Reflex

Professor Toon, of Toon and The Real Laww, brings the academic wordplay to the sensational set of performances hosted by Thrill City as part of their Glass Reflex campaign.

Ryan Cocca, Thrill City’s founder, calls Glass Reflex “a passion project.” The group has curated 9 episodes so far, including appearances from local standouts King Mez and Well$, the latter coming off the release of his debut album, Revenge of the African Booty Scratcher. “All we do so far is City Sessions every week and we’re having a different photographer take over our Instagram account every week too,” says Cocca. The rich culture building in the Triangle cannot be overstated. Cocca and his team recognize and foster that culture as well as anyone.

Glass Reflex is just the beginning as Toon prepares for a jam-packed summer. Alongside Durham rapper Defacto Thezpian, the two are performing on July 10th at CCB Plaza as part of Downtown Durham Inc.’s Find Your Cool series. The hype continues to escalates as Toon and his partner-in-rhyme, The Real Laww, are set to open for hip-hop legends De La Soul at this year’s Hopscotch Music Festival.

(Go listen to De La Soul for the remainder of the day. You will not regret the decision).
