–Durham has long been at the forefront of the upcycling movement. I was reminded, by no less than the chairwoman of the board of the Scrap Exchange, that frequently recycling should be the last resort. How else can we creatively reuse something? Or could someone else reuse it? These are the questions we should ask ourselves before we simply pitch it in the recycling bin.
If that’s your thing or something you want to learn more about, there is a great opportunity this coming 3rd Friday. The Upfront Gallery in the Bull City Arts Collaborative is hosting, “ReVamped” by Jennifer Collins-Mancour. It is a show of Summer Separates (Summer clothes for you non-fashionistas) created entirely from recycled t-shirts.
