The Fate of the Frog is told in Seuss-like anapestic tetrameter. Rooney is confident that the sooner we expose our children to scientific ideas, the less intimidated they will be by such subject matter in the future. As she notes, “Science is part of literacy.” Melissa Rooney is a University of North Carolina Ph.D. in Chemistry, who knows from personal experience.

The Fate of the Frog won the 2018 Beverly Hills Children’s Fiction Book Award.
